The REC Center

With the opening of a brand-new facility, we are so excited for members to enjoy all of the wonderful amenities at The REC. We want to ensure safety of staff, members, and the Rochelle Community, so we have implemented some regulations for the facility.

  • Masks should be worn when social distancing cannot be maintained.

    • Exceptions can be made for people with medical conditions or disabilities that prevent them from safely wearing a face covering.

    • If you are fully vaccinated you are not required to wear a mask or physically distance. You are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your second dose in the 2-dose series or the single dose vaccine. If you don't meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are not fully vaccinated and should keep taking precautions.

  • Avoid unnecessary “high-touch” areas.

  • Staff have additional cleaning procedures that will be completed daily.

  • Drinking fountains will be unavailable at this time.

    • Bring a water bottle with you.

  • Reservations are required for the Aquatic Center and programs/classes only, but if maximum capacity has not been met, then drop-ins will be allowed.

    • Arrive no more than 5 minutes prior to reservation.

    • Changing space/locker rooms will be limited; come appropriately dressed for activity when possible.

We have also implemented zone-specific guidelines in the facility:

  • REC Fitness

    • Total number of patrons will be limited; must be 16 years of age or older (13-15 year-olds welcome, but must be supervised by an adult 18yrs+ until fitness certification class completed.)

    • Equipment has been spaced out to provide safe distancing between weight-stack machines, free weight equipment, and cardio machines.

    • Members are asked to wipe down all equipment both before and after use.

    • Equipment may be temporarily “Closed” for additional cleaning from staff.

    • Group training in Fitness Classroom limited to 25.

    • Fitness Center will be cleared every odd hour for complete sanitizing of the facility.

  • REC Aquatics

    • Total number of patrons will be limited; must be 16 years of age or older during non-lifeguarded hours.

    • Lifeguarded hours:

      • Monday-Friday 12:00-5:00pm | Saturday 10:00am-3:00pm | Sunday 11:00am-3:00pm

    • We encourage that you arrive in your swim suit.

    • Personal items carried in should be minimized and placed on the pool deck.

    • Masks are NOT permitted in the water as they pose a safety concern, but should be worn until entering the water (including when in the locker rooms.)

    • Participants must maintain social distancing requirements of 6ft from other individuals or households at all times.

    • During Lap Swim there can be up to 2 swimmers per lane. Multiple swimmers from the same household may share the same lane but must list that at the time of registration.

    • Please bring your own equipment to limit shared equipment (ie. kickboards, pull buoys, float belts, barbells, etc.)

  • REC Fieldhouse

    • Total number of patrons will be limited.

    • Please bring your own equipment whenever possible.

    • Reservations are not required.

    • Fieldhouse will be cleared every even hour for complete sanitizing of the facility.
