Youth Classes
Dance
Classes are designed to help dance students develop a greater
sense of body awareness, rhythm, flexibility, and coordination. A
multi-discipline approach is used to keep focus, stimulate
imagination, and develop creative expression. Further gained in
Dance education are listening skills, motor and social skills.
Introduced are all four of the major dance disciplines. Basics in
Ballet, Jazz (hip-hop), Tap, and Acrobatic (tumbling) are
established by alternating two disciplines every week. To help
develop large and small motor skills numerous props are utilized at
the Broadway Baby level. In addition the
children's natural rhythm and creativity are harnessed to help
develop total body coordination and awareness. Dancers at the
Broadway Cutie level are introduced progressively
to terminology, refining techniques, incorporating movements into
combinations, stage presence, muscle memory, and approaching Dance
as an art form. All classes are held at Teen Town with instruction
by owner Debbie Jones and teachers from Debbie's Dance
Dimension.
*Dance Recital will be held at The Egyptian
Theatre in DeKalb, Illinois. The recital will be June 16 and 17,
2012.
